NEW YORK – Following Senate confirmation of former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz as the next United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Amb. Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, released the following statement:
“On behalf of the World Jewish Congress, I congratulate Mike Waltz on his confirmation and look forward to working together as he advocates for American values at the United Nations. I am confident that Amb. Waltz will serve as an unflinching voice in support of the U.S.-Israel relationship and bring moral clarity to an institution too often marred by politicized biases.
“As the U.S. representative to the UN, Amb. Walz will have a critical platform to advocate for the release of the remaining 48 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and stand against Iran’s malign influence.
“With the advancement of the UN80 initiative and impending change of Secretary-General, strong and principled American leadership will be essential in rallying the international community to confront the mounting global threats we face.”
